In the past I have shown work in solo exhibitions at the following galleries; Hall Place, The Bethlem Gallery, The Institute of Psychiatry, and at the social services office at Swanley.
With other artists as a member of the Centerpieces art group at Crayford; The Crayford Centre, Hall Place, Sidcup Library, and Bexleyheath Library and others.
With the Bethlem Gallery; Croydon Gallery, The Institute of Psychiatry and others.
My work is intended to raise awareness of the problems faced by those labelled mentally ill, to dispel the ignorance and the prejudice that patients face in the community. I have also used paintings, drawings and prints to remember the old hospitals before they were closed as part of the last care in the community initiative.

My work is concerned with those who are the antithesis of today's celebrity culture, the psychiatric patients, the drug addicts, the homeless, vagrants, 'losers'-society's outsiders. Often they are more interesting and worthier than the 'icons' we are expected to admire. The word icon means a picture of a saint or martyr, and they are more likely to be found in the gutter than on the stage, catwalk or football pitch. I hope that my art is functional and decorative. By raising awareness of today's social problems and dispelling prejudice society can confront and solve the sociological problems it has to endure. Distracted by celebrity culture we are inclined to neglect those who need help.

The Road to the Asylum

The Road to the Asylum is part autobiography part research. It is a study of the outsiders who inhabited the bohemian underworld of the last century. Instead of writing entirely about myself I decided to write about people I knew who, because of their outsider reputations, would not usually be remembered. If anyone was interested in me they could know me by the company I kept. Some of the people I knew were not only interesting but also had a catalytic and influential effect on the rock music of the time. I hope people will read my book while it is available. I have changed some names protect the innocent.
